[What I'm feeling |artistic]

Buckcherry was one of my instant fav bands several years ago, then they broke up for a while and got back together. This awesome song is one of the results....dammit now I gotta get my guitar and shake off the rust.

At first I thought this was totally amazing. Then after thinking about it for a minute I realized that his dad must be so proud...

Office guy 1: My kid just graduated med school!
Office guy 2: Mine just passed his bar exam!
Ofiice guy 3: My son wears Mickey Mouse gloves and plays with a yo-yo...

Facts you never knew about Chuck Norris... [Aug. 6th, 2007|11:33 pm]
[What I'm feeling | amused]

The grass is always greener on the other side, unless Chuck Norris has been there. In that case the grass is most likely soaked in blood and tears.

A street in Los Angeles was named Chuck Norris Street but three days later the name of the street had to be changed after 16,000 pedestrians died while crossing it................Nobody crosses Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris invented black. In fact, he invented the entire spectrum of visible light. Except pink. Tom Cruise invented pink.

Being sick SUCKS [Jun. 20th, 2007|04:20 pm]
[What I'm feeling | sick]

For the past 7 days I've been fighting this weird cold/fever/flu thing which has robbed me of 6 paid sick days, sent me on a trip to the ER, and literally left me without a voice. I can't remember the last time I've ever been this ill. Thankfully you can order from PapaJohn's online, otherwise I probably would have starved to death.

Someone please shoot me.

And the rainiest city in the U.S. is...

Mobile — not Seattle — ranks highest in the contiguous 48 states

By Andrea Thompson
LiveScience

Do you think Seattle is the rainiest city in the United States? Well, think again.

Mobile, Ala., actually topped a new list of soggiest cities in the contiguous 48 states, with more than 5 feet of rainfall annually, according to a study conducted by San Francisco-based WeatherBill, Inc.

The Southeast dominated the most rainy list, while the Pacific Northwest never enters the list until Olympia, Washington pops up at number 24.

The 10 rainiest cities in the U.S. by amount of annual rainfall include:

1. Mobile, Ala.: 67 inches average annual rainfall; 59 average annual rainy days
2. Pensacola, Fla.: 65 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days
3. New Orleans, La.: 64 inches average annual rainfall; 59 average annual rainy days
4. West Palm Beach, Fla.: 63 inches average annual rainfall; 58 average annual rainy days
5. Lafayette, La.: 62 inches average annual rainfall; 55 average annual rainy days
6. Baton Rouge, La.: 62 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days
7. Miami, Fla.: 62 inches average annual rainfall; 57 average annual rainy days
8. Port Arthur, Texas: 61 inches average annual rainfall; 51 average annual rainy days
9. Tallahassee, Fla.: 61 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days
10. Lake Charles, La.: 58 inches average annual rainfall; 50 average annual rainy days

The study ranked 195 cities in the contiguous 48 states by the amount of rainfall they received annually over a 30-year period, although Olympia actually had the most rainy days on average across the three decades (63) of all the cities in the study. Mobile came in second on the latter scale, with 59 average annual rainy days. (Several cities in Alaska and Hawaii actually receive more than 100 inches of rain a year, but were not included in the study.)

Southeastern cities are so prevalent on the list because the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico fuel storms that frequently soak the region, particularly between June and November.

The study also found that in the past 30 years, the East and Southeast seemed to be getting wetter, while the West got drier. Florida, Louisiana and Alabama were the wettest states, while California, Montana, Nevada and Arizona were the driest (Las Vegas took the top spot for driest city).

Average rainfall was highest in the United States between July and September and lowest between January and March.

Sore and achy... [Apr. 25th, 2007|12:20 am]

[Tunes |The Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You]

...and loving it. Since I got back from NYC Sunday night (trip was great btw), I finally took delivery of my bike on Monday. Rode that thing all the way from the shop to the apartment which consists of 4 solid miles of ginormous hills. After an hour I finally got home and despite being exhausted and out of breath, I was pretty proud of myself considering I only had to slow down to a walk twice. Today I supplemented that with a good 25 minute run on the treadmill with no breaks.

It's been quite a while since I've worked out like that and I forgot how good it felt afterwards. Now I'm committing to biking and/or running 5 days a week from here on out. Toss on top of that 30+ minutes of weightlifting 3 times a week (I bought dumbbells and a weight bench) and I should be in summer shape in no time. Who the hell needs 24 Hour Fitness anyway? *FLEX*

Day After Day [Apr. 11th, 2007|01:27 am]
[What I'm feeling | contemplative]

Maybe it's just me. Each day seems just like the last, somehow I feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day where it felt like I was walking up to the same day over and over. I don't feel any different than yesterday or even the year before. I can't quite explain it except perhaps call it a bit...surreal?

So this past Sunday I went over to a local cycling shop and plunked down some cash for this badboy:

It's the Rockhopper by Specialized...perfect all-around mountain bike that I can use for both commuting and tearing up mountain paths! Shimano crankset shifters and matching shifters, Rockshox Dart 3 SL coil spring fork, Tekro V front/rear brakes w/linear spring, and Specialized Fast Track 26" tires, all on a 15" A1 aluminum frame that's light as a feather.

Time to get back into shape for Spring baby!

I'm not normally real heavy into politics but does anyone else think Ann Coulter is on crack? I know she's not representative of the Republican majority but someone from that side really needs to smack her upside the head as she's not helping their cause any with her latest remarks.

Crazy days [Dec. 18th, 2006|01:22 am]
[What I'm feeling | restless]

So the wind storm has come and gone and created chaos in the Pacific Northwest, especially here in Western Washington. Power was knocked out from over 700,000 households for hours and in many cases (like mine) days. My electricity went out about 1am Friday morning and I just got it back Sunday around 11am. It was odd seeing not only my apartment building but every building in my area completely dark. When I wandered out during sunset Friday evening, the town just took on an eerie feeling. The streets were almost empty and all storefronts were closed and locked up. Only a few cars and pedestrians wandering about gave any indicator of human life.

To make things stranger several crows and other black birds were flying against the canvas of the waning sunset, their caws echoing around the empty parking lots. Creepy just took on a whole new definition from that moment.

That night I booked it to a buddy's house 40 minutes away where he still had electricty, cable tv, and internet and stayed until this afternoon when I could verify that my area had power again. What a disturbing weekend, it makes me realize how connected we are to something as simple as electricity. Without it, we're literally back to the stone age.

Anyway, something to brighten up the unsettling mood. Presenting Spudgy! Awwwww....
